5 million blog views

The blog has passed another milestone this weekend, reaching 5 million views.

It’s gratifying that our audience keeps growing; we’re attracting approx one million views per year at the moment.

Why do we spend so much time writing it? That’s simple – to raise awareness about the continuing illegal killing of birds of prey and to influence policy that will help bring it to an end.

We post this photograph every time we reach another million views because it’s what motivates us to keep going. This is a golden eagle that was found dead in the Cairngorms National Park in 2006 (photo by RSPB). It had been illegally poisoned. It epitomises everything in its pitiful, poignant, senselessness.

Thank you to everyone who supports and contributes to this blog.

Onwards towards six million views!

Thanks for keeping us informed and driven – and the satire has been biting too! Thanks to RPUK we’re a good bit down the road towards a country where birds of prey aren’t the victims of ignorance, arrogance and greed.

Thanks for your good work. As individuals we often feel powerless but there is a strength and reassurance in knowing how many like-minded people are out there (and on here!)

Measured, supported by science, to the point. We have a voice and we dont need to take it anymore.

The ranting killers are slowly but surely losing their influence. Change is coming.

    Thank you.

Thanks for all the tireless work getting into the nitty gritty of raptor persecution and keeping us all up to date and focused. Great work!

Thanks so much to all involved, those we know and those we don’t. You take all the flak that doesn’t touch us, except to outrage us, yet keep us fully informed of what’s happening, and what we can do. It would be wonderful to think that this blog wasn’t needed, but…

The criminal lachies and their Establishment godfathers are taking blow after blow and they have no counter. There’s not going to be a quick knockout, it may take a hundred rounds, but they are going down slowly but surely. We are indebted to your tireless investigations and revelations. We are with you all the way. Thank you.

I’m thankful you are there & pleased more are coming to the cause through your, & others hard work. But I’m looking forward to the day when your blog will be unnecessary.

Congratulations! VERY well-deserved readership…onward to 10 million! Massive kudos for your ongoing dedication to raptor justice, a healthier overall landscape for wildlife and humans, and your meticulous research and coverage of these issues. Every year we are moving towards a better approach towards these fabulous birds, and away from the wasteland of burning and killing that is the driven grouse shooting norm. Change is coming, and you are a huge part of it… Thank you.

I bet the Dark Side wishes it had something half as effective as RPUK!

“The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time.” Edward Grey

RPUK – a lamp lit in our lifetime for British raptors. Long may it continue to shine.

Your necessary work in collating the ongoing abuses against wild birds, which are supposed to be protected, is very much appreciated by those of us who resent the arrogance of certain elements in the shooting community and wish to see their nefarious practises stopped.

Well done RPUK…Im glad that the death of that eagle has been put to such good use – lets never forget all the hundreds of others that have died and are still dying out there.

You do a fabulous job. The more people who know about these unacceptable facts the more pressure for change there is. You can tell that the pressure is mounting by the reactions from those involved.

I honestly don’t know how you do it. Even as a reader, there are times when I just have to step away from all this because it becomes too depressing. On the plus side, I do truly believe we are winning and in particular that the internet’s ability to fund raise for Wild Justice and other legal challenges may be the thing that turns the tide.

Well done to all. Thank you for your commitment.
Just to remind the non believers a quote from James Mitchener comes to mind.

‘Every animal that walks the earth, or swims, or flies is precious beyond description, something so rare and wonderful that it equals the stars or the ocean or the mind of man.’

Keep up the good work. I cover an Upland Rover square near Leadhills,an area which, as you know, much persecuted. I had a pair of Hen Harriers last June and saw a Red Kite there only last week. Your organisation, I know, is doing what it can to ensure they are still there next year. Thank you.
