Convicted poisoner (gamekeeper) is a member of SGA

There’ll be some red faces at the SGA today. After all the proclamations of Alex Hogg, Chairman of the Scottish Gamekeepers Association, who is on record as saying, “Professional gamekeepers do not poison raptors” (see here), it turns out that the gamekeeper David Alexander Whitefield, who today was convicted of poisoning four buzzards (see here), is a member of the SGA!!

The SGA has issued a statement after today’s conviction, that says Whitefield’s membership will be suspended with immediate effect (see here). This is welcome, if belated, news. But why wasn’t his membership terminated after his earlier conviction for wildlife offences in 2008? Or is membership only terminated after a conviction for poisoning, as opposed to other types of wildlife crime?

A question that the SGA or indeed MR Hogg might like to come and answer for us?

    Quote from the SGA statement:
“Such actions by individuals are totally unacceptable and damage the reputation of all those who go about their business in the proper way”

I take it the proper way means don’t get caught at it otherwise we can’t help you !!!

Yep you got it in one Nirofo, if you get caught your on your own. Seems it’s ok to kill Raptors just dont get caught cos if you do we will disown you. No loyalty in the SGA then. Mind you he was only a Gamekeeper, might be different if it was an Estate Owner. Think there would be a lot of Forelock Tugging going on then. Ooops I might be talking out of turn again.

XXXXXXXX!!! [Ed - Offensive language removed] As with every group there will be a few bad eggs. You cannot and must not tar all gamekeepers with the same brush.

With all the Raptor killing going on all over Scotland and England the “few bad eggs” must travel a lot to commit their crimes.
